Emotions: Enjoy the ride!

Ups and downs. Rough patches and awesome experiences. They are all part of life and living. If you do not experience the lows - you could never enjoy the highs. They are called emotions and that is what makes life great.

Leave nothing to doubt

"Leave everything on the road - Leave nothing to doubt" is a phrase that I have come to use in my life. It originated on the tar roads of Durban on my road bike but has crept into all aspects of my life! Here is how it came about ... these are the words I wrote down after a cycling event last year. It was 50 km done on the tandem with my dad.

I know that in the past, in terms of sporting events, I always hold thereby keeping something in reserve just in case. This was probably me being scared of hitting the wall and having to suffer home. Well not this time. This time I left it all out on the road. I look back now  and can say that I could not have done any more - I left nothing to doubt today.

The result was that afterwards I could not stand up straight but could stand tall. not because we had won the race on the day but because I know I did everything and gave everything I had that day. I do say that God provided me with not only the physical strength but most importantly the mental focus required to carry on when all I wanted to do was slow down and cruise on home.

A big day indeed. Laid everything down. Left everything on the road. But even with nothing left to doubt - the greatest part of it all was being able to enter.

Heroes come and go - Legends never die!

I first read about this guy in Runners World a few editions ago. An absolute amazing story of a man who came from a normal job to become possibly one of the greatest runners of his time.

That said - the article below highlights his next attempt at breaking records which to me is admirable and I support him all the way!

The problem with the article is actually the people who comment on it below the article! they go into the argument of whether or not he is the best runner whether his sponsors made him who he is! This is an absolute outrage in my books and they even compare him to club runners they know!! Despicable and an insult to Ryan!

Read it for yourself and make your own decision!

Have fun!

Whatever you do, you should be having fun!

It is a big statement I know but it is true. You can argue that work is not fun whilst going on holiday is! But why cant you have fun at work? At least you should not be dreading going to work.

Moving off work being fun - your hobbies and spare time should be fun! I create websites in a business I run called Steggies Place Web Hosting. Go to www.steggiesplace.com for details. This is always fun! Yes it does create some extra income but that is certainly not the only fun I have! I have created websites for various people and they have always been and continue to be great fun when creating or maintaining them.

If you are enjoying the past times you are involved in - its contagious and others want to  know what you are doing to make you so happy and love life!
This concept was slammed into my head by Sir Richard Bransons book Let's Not Screw It, Let's Just Do It that I read recently. He made his money having fun! No if he can then you can!!

Have fun!

Be still (Part 2)

This is going to sound really strange but I really ask you to try it!

When driving in your car (to wherever you go - be it work, gym, dropping kids off etc etc) - try driving with no radio / CD / mp3 player on.
To take it to the next level - when you normally plug your ipod / mp3 player into your ears, try doing whatever you were doing without it. it may seem weird and unusual but it can be very relaxing.

Try it. You never know!

So here is the plan!

So as you are probably aware - I lost my job on Friday last week. This is the plan going forward:

Send my CV out to any ad placed in various places for a job that looks suitable,
Study at least 3 hours a day until I get that job,
Advertise www.steggiesplace.com and promote the great opportunity it is to bring some money in,
STAY POSITIVE about this time being a way to move forward.

Here we go!
